Fasting - please ensure that you take away all food (including treats and bones) after 9pm the night before surgery. Water (not milk) can be offered overnight but must be taken away the morning of the surgery.
Bathing - we recommend that you bath/groom your pet before elective surgery. You will not be able to bath your pet for at least 10 days after surgery as sutures cannot get wet.
Medications - if your pet is on medication, please consult with the vet prior to the day of the surgery as some medication regimes may need to be altered for that day.
Illness - if your pet is unwell leading up to the day of surgery or on the day of surgery, please notify the vet or nurse prior to surgery or on admission.
Hours - admission for surgery usually takes place between 8:30 and 9 am. Staff are available from 8am for those clients needing an earlier drop off. Alternatively, we are happy to admit animals the night before surgery at no extra charge.
Transport - all dogs must be on lead and all cats must be in a suitable carrier or box.
Toiletting - please take your dog to the lawn at the front of the clinic prior to admission.
Consent form - On admission, the nursing staff will ask you to sign a consent form. This form gives your consent for an anaesthetic to be administered to your dog and for your dog to stay in the hospital. There is also a section where the estimate for the surgery will be written down. Please ensure that you understand what the estimate is.
Contact Details - on admission please ensure that your contact details are correct and that you are contactable during the day.
Discharge - please contact the clinic between 4-5pm to arrange a discharge time. Pets are only discharged once they have recovered fully from the anaesthetic. Some pets may be required to stay overnight.
