Fasting - please ensure that you take away all food after 9pm the night before surgery. Water (not milk) can be offered overnight but must be taken away the morning of the surgery.
Medications - if your cat is on medication, please consult with the vet prior to the day of the surgery as some medication regimes may need to be altered for that day.
Illness - if your cat is unwell leading up to the day of surgery or on the day of surgery, please notify the vet or nurse prior to surgery or on admission.
Hours - admission for surgery usually takes place between 8:30 and 9 am. Staff are available from 8am for those clients needing an earlier drop off. Alternatively we are happy to admit animals the night before surgery at no extra charge.
Transport - all cats must be in a suitable carrier or box.
Consent form - On admission, the nursing staff will ask you to sign a consent form. This form gives your consent for an anaesthetic to be administered to your cat and for your cat to stay in the hospital. There is also a section where the estimate for the surgery will be written down. Please ensure that you understand what the estimate is.
Contact Details - on admission please ensure that your contact details are correct and that you are contactable during the day.
Discharge - please contact the clinic between 4-5pm to arrange a discharge time. Cats are only discharged once they have recovered fully from the anaesthetic. Some cats may be required to stay overnight.
If you have any further questions or concerns about surgery, please contact the clinic.
