Hospital History
In 1987, a veterinary clinic called 'Corhanwarrabul Veterinary Clinic' was opened at 919 Stud Road in Rowville. The clinic was named after a nearby creek and it predominantly serviced the greyhound industry.
Then, 2 years later, Dr Kerrie Lay purchased the clinic and renamed it 'Rowville Veterinary Clinic'. Kerrie's main focus was small animal medicine and surgery. There were 2 vets and 2.5 nurses.
The clinic continued to grow over the years and in July 2004 Dr Rachael Guthry became a partner. Today the clinic has 5 vets and 9 nurses.
In 1997 the clinic earned accreditation as a 'Hospital of Excellence' from the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association (ASAVA). This is a prestigious award that recognises that the Rowville Veterinary Clinic works to very high standards as set by the ASAVA. Every 3 years, the Rowville Veterinary Clinic is reinspected and reassessed by a panel of veterinarians to ensure that the highest standards of diagnostics, medicine, surgery and nursing are being maintained. We are proud to say that the Rowville Veterinary Clinic has achieved these standards each and every time.
There are only 7 accredited hospitals of excellence in Victoria and approximately 30 across Australia. Rowville Veterinary Clinic is the only hospital of excellence in the immediate area.
